There are many great walks in the Yarra Valley. Whether you want to climb the Tongue Point, hike along the O’Shannassy Aqueduct Trail, or trek through the Neds Gully Track, there’s a walking route for you.
Kurth Kiln Regional Park
Kurth Kiln Regional Park is located in the Dandenong Ranges and is home to an iconic kiln, a riparian forest and stringybarks. It was built during the second world war and used to produce charcoal for gas producer units. The park is now popular for nature walking, horse riding, camping and picnicking.
In addition to the kiln, visitors can also take a walk along the creek. There are some great picnic spots on the reserve, as well as toilet facilities.

While there are a number of things to do in the Yarra Valley, you should definitely check out the region’s wineries. Many of them are located in the area and offer cellar door tastings. Aside from that, you can also sample chocolate, cheese and chutney.

Neds Gully Track
Neds Gully Track is a 2km double black diamond singletrack alpine trail. It runs between Neds Gully camping ground and Neds Saddle. The track is a great start to any Cathedral Ranges hike.
Starting from the campground, the Neds Gully Track climbs a ridge through a forest and reaches the top of the gully. On the final section, the track provides excellent views of the back of the range.
Depending on your skill level, this walk can be challenging. It is best to start with a sturdy pair of shoes, and food and water are necessary.
Yarra Bend Park has a variety of hiking trails. There are a number of short and long walks that can be used to set the pace for a day of hiking. You can also go for a scenic drive along the Black Spur road.
Located close to Melbourne, Cathedral Ranges State Park is a beautiful park that offers a range of walking tracks. These include the Kokoda Trail, which was used during WWII.
The Cathedral Ranges are a seven-kilometre ridge of sharply upturned sedimentary rock. This area is home to a variety of wildlife. Some of the creatures you might encounter include lyrebirds, wombats and possums.

Visitors can also take a stroll along the Yarra River trail. There are several access points, but camping is not permitted on the trail. However, there is a great picnic spot at the Dee Road Picnic Ground.

The O’Shannassy Aqueduct has become an increasingly popular bike riding trail. This is because it offers excellent views of the Yarra Valley. Besides being a biking trail, the trail can also be used for hiking. Several car parks are located at key access points.
While the O’Shannassy Aqueduct is a beautiful cycling trail, it is also an exciting walking trail. It is cut into the mountain above Warburton, making it a protected natural wonder.
Dights Falls Tail
If you are looking for a walk in the Yarra Valley that will give you stunning views and great wildlife, you should try the Dights Falls Loop. This is a 5km loop trail that is easy to do. It takes about 20 minutes to reach the waterfall.
You will get amazing views of the Yarra Valley and the Warburton Ranges. There is also a picnic area on this trail. The trail is accessible from the Melbourne Zoo, which is located right beside the river.
